Gerardo Gallo is a  senior researcher and technologist at National Statistical Institute (ISTAT)

He is head of the activity “Integrated process of population registers and other administrative sources” at the Population Census Division of ISTAT. For over 20 years he has been interested in empirical research on demography and migration. He is currently a member of the international task force of Eurostat-United Nation Commission for Europe whose aim is to define the guidelines for the register based censuses of the member countries. He is an expert on population censuses and he provided assistance on this topic to several third countries as Ethiopia and Kosovo. From 2015 he is in charge in the integration of different administrative data to define the usual resident population in Italy. From 1996 he is a member of the Italian Association on Population Studies.
