HOW TO GET THE CONFERENCE AND SOCIAL MEETING LOCATIONS (click here for the complete map)

The main venue of the Conference (registration desk, first plenary session, parallel sessions, general assembly) will be located in the rooms of Via Gino Capponi 9, one of the locations of the University of Florence in the city center.

From the Florence Train Central Station (Santa Maria Novella) you can walk to via Gino Capponi 9 or take a bus.

From Santa Maria Novella railway station, it takes approximately 15 minutes to walk to the venue (about 1.5 Km). From Piazza della Stazione take Largo Alinari (80 m), continue straight on Via Nazionale (300 m). Then turn left on Via Guelfa (360m) and continue straight on Via degli Alfani, and after about 200 m turn left on Via dei Servi. Cross Piazza dell’Annunziata and go straight to Via Gino Capponi (entrance on the left after about 150 m) (check the path on the google map here).

The bus lines from the Central Station that get you close to the conference site are n. 6A, 6B, 14, 14A, 23A, 23B, and the closest bus stop is Santissima Annunziata (after Piazza San Marco). You can check here the transportation company web page for directions and timetables. From the bus stop, you need to walk for less than 5 minutes: continue on Via Cesare Battisti for 50 m., then turn left on Via Gino Capponi. You will find the entrance on the right after about 150 m.

The Welcome cocktail will take place in the Salone delle Compagnie, Istituto degli Innocenti, in Piazza Santissima Annunziata 12, very close to the conference location (less than 200 m from Via Gino Capponi 9, check the path on the google map here).
Before the cocktail party, we are glad to invite you for a guided tour to the Museo degli Innocenti. The tour will start at 6.30 p.m.

The social dinner will take place at Palazzo Borghese, Via Ghibellina, 110/N. It takes about 10 minutes’ walk from the main conference venue (about 1 km) (check the path on the google map here).

HOW TO REACH FLORENCE

Florence is well-connected with the rest of Italy and with Europe, and is easy to access by car, by train and by air.

By Car: The A1 motorway, the main artery road linking the north and south of the country, has four exits toward Florence. The A11 motorway links Florence and the Tirrenic coast. If you decide to reach Florence by car, take into account that there are no free parking places downtown, and parking can turn rather expensive.

By Train: Florence is a key node on the Italian railway network (Trenitalia). High-speed trains (Frecciarossa and Frecciargento) connect Florence with the most important Italian cities. In Florence there are three main train stations: Santa Maria Novella, Campo di Marte, Firenze Rifredi, but most of high-speed trains arrive to the main station Santa Maria Novella, which is within walking distance from the site of the Conference (about 15 minutes).

By Air: You can get to Florence via two airports: Florence Airport and Pisa Airport, which are served by several international airlines and they are daily connected to most of the main European Airports.

The Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) is just 5 km northwest of the city center. For transport to downtown there is either a swift shuttle service (cost € 5.00) connecting the Arrivals side of the airport to the center of Florence (near the central railway station Firenze Santa Maria Novella) running every 30 minutes practically all day long, or taxis (cost about € 25, for about 15 minutes).

The Pisa Airport (Galileo Galilei) is about 80 km from Florence. The easiest way to reach Florence by Galilei Airport is by train (about one every hour to Firenze Santa Maria Novella) and by coach service operated by Terravision and by Autostradale (from the Arrivals side of the airport to the railway station Firenze Santa Maria Novella).

Although February is not a peak touristic season for Florence, we encourage you to make your reservation early.

We suggest hotels in the center of the city (where meeting venues and social dinner are located).
