Abstract
The focus on working-life situation of young people, their labour market position, their preparation for the labour market, cannot exclude a reflection on school dropout. In order to have a more skilled workforce, among the possible educational and training strategies, we believe that it is necessary, firstly, to reduce and preventing school dropout and, secondarily, to act on the school population, rather than on Early School Leavers (ELS). This work specifically treats the drop out, also named as the school dropout: a phenomenon in which part of the student population does not achieve the educational goals set and refers to the discontinuity of education and training paths, including evasion, repeated years, failures, prolonged absences, delays, low performance, and so on.
The goals of this work are, firstly, to achieve a “preventive approach”, using a questionnaire to collect the risk factors of the risk of dropout and, secondly, to build a composite indicator, very simple in terms of construction application and understanding, to measure the “risk of dropout”, based on the information collected through the validate RSDQ.
