Abstract

In recent years, particular attention have been paid to the internationalisation process of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) as a key factor to achieve best performance. In particular, international students attractiveness have become a goal to prioritise among other strategies. While some research has shown the impact of internationalisation on attracting foreign students whish potentially enriched the same HEI, little empirical and quailtative studies have been conducted to better understand the role of Universities in the integration process of international students in the host society. This project aims to improve understanding of the international students' integration process in Italy with a key focus on the migratory project that actually motivated the student tomove elsewhere, the actual life on campus and the future plans. Taking Sapienza University as a case study, this project aims at analyzing firstly quantitative data from InfoStud and InfoSapienza archives related to foreign students enrolled at Sapienza. Secondly, we aim at contributing to the state of the art by proposing a qualitative approach that takes in consideration the impact of university's structures and services and the integration process from the student perspective, thus focusing in the outputs as graduates in the university-work transition.
