Call for Papers

The Italian Association for Population Studies (Sis-Aisp) invites submissions to the next Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione – Popdays 2023, the general scientific conference aimed at promoting the study and discussion of population research.

We are pleased to announce that the conference will see the participation of the Iberian Society of Historical Demography (ADEH).

Submissions should be made to one of the conference strands (organizers in parenthesis), through the submission system:

• Ageing and intergenerational relations (Cecilia Tomassini)
• Demography of developing countries (Raya Muttarak)
• Human Capital and Labour Market (Giancarlo Ragozini)
• Families and Households (Nicoletta Balbo)
• Fertility (Daniele Vignoli)
• Health and Wellbeing (Giulia Cavrini)
• Internal migration and Spatial Issues (Gerardo Gallo)
• International Migrations (Elena Ambrosetti)
• Mortality (Elisabetta Barbi)
• New data and methods in population studies (Emilio Zagheni)
• Population and Environment* (Margherita Azzari)
• Posters (Annalisa Busetta)

Deadline Extended: New submission deadline is 10 October 2022.

Authors are asked to provide:

1. a short abstract in English (max 200 words);
2. three to five keywords;
3. an extended abstract (2-4 pages) OR, alternatively, a full paper;
4. full names, affiliations and e-mail addresses of all co-authors.

We accept papers written both in English and Italian.
Contributions must be submitted online, through the conference website.
At most 2 submissions as presenting author are allowed.
Acceptance will be notified by mid-November 2022.

Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione 2019

The Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione (Population Days), held every two years, is one of the most important initiatives of the Italian Association for the Study of Population (Sis-AISP).

On that occasion, Italian and international leading experts and scholars, mainly from academia, the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and other national and governmental agencies, come together to present completed, planned, and ongoing research on issues relating to the population and society with a multidisciplinary approach. Official languages are Italian and English.
The latest edition had around 250 participants who presented about 200 contributions within more than 30 parallel sessions and 2 poster sessions.

Submissions should be made to one of the following conference strands, which will be developed into a series of sessions by the organizers (in parenthesis):

Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione 2017

The Giornate di Studio sulla Popolazione (Population Days), held every two years, is one of the most important initiatives of the Italian Association for the Study of Population (Sis-Aisp). On that occasion, Italian and international leading experts and scholars, mainly from academia, the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and other national and governmental agencies, come together to present completed, planned, and ongoing research and to provide an opportunity for comparison across a broad overview of the issues currently debated about population and society. Conferences are based on parallel sessions, which in later editions have received 150 voluntary contributions of more than 25 subject areas.

We are glad to inform that the opening plenary session of the 12^th edition of the Population Days will be organized in collaboration with Swedish Demographic Association.
Gunnar Andersson and Gerda Neyer have confirmed their participation as keynote speakers of this session.
